HB9HQ Contest

The HB9HQ Contest is Switzerland’s entry in the IARU HF World Championship — the major 24-hour shortwave contest held on the second weekend in July, during which the association’s team operates under the special call sign HB9HQ. The USKA also presents the annual HB9HQ Award to hunters — a certificate for contacts made with the HB9HQ stations.

Swiss Emergency Contest (SEC)

The Swiss Emergency Contest (SEC) is an annual emergency radio contest organised by the USKA, designed to train Swiss radio amateurs in their preparedness for emergencies. The contest is held in SSB mode on shortwave, in CB radio bands and via relays; it takes place every September. Rules, rankings and reports are archived below.

SwAC — Swiss Activity Contest

The Swiss Activity Contest (SwAC) is a year-round USKA activity contest on VHF/UHF/SHF and shortwave. Every month, several short contest sessions take place on 2m/70cm/23cm/50 MHz, the results of which are combined into monthly and annual rankings. The rules, calendar and results are archived below.

HB9WARD — World Amateur Radio Day

On 18 April 1925, the IARU (International Amateur Radio Union) was founded in Paris. Every year, this event is commemorated worldwide as World Amateur Radio Day. To mark the occasion, the USKA and Swiss radio amateurs activate the club call sign HB9WARD. Operations are carried out by interested operators from their respective locations, with the aim of being QRV on as many bands and modes as possible.
