HB9WARD — World Amateur Radio Day

On 18 April 1925, the IARU (International Amateur Radio Union) was founded in Paris. Every year, this event is commemorated worldwide as World Amateur Radio Day. To mark the occasion, the USKA and Swiss radio amateurs activate the club call sign HB9WARD. Operations are carried out by interested operators from their respective locations, with the aim of being QRV on as many bands and modes as possible.

18 April (annually), all day.

Bands & Modes

All bands as per licence, including WARC. Special stations may operate on WARC bands; contest operation is not permitted. Phone, CW, digital. Maximum power: as per Swiss legislation. Only one station may be QRV at any one time per band and mode.

Activation of the call sign

Register by emailing ✉ hb9ward@uska.ch with the following details: operator’s/club’s call sign, QTH (locator/canton/postcode), allocated time slot (day, from–to in UTC), band and mode. Once you have registered, you will receive confirmation with the schedule and logging details.
